As the leaves of autumn start to fall and the air graces us with a bitter dry in the Midwest, the question arises in many athlete's minds when they find themselves working out and training is: How can I get an effective workout in low temperatures?
This is where warm up suits come in. A warmup suit eases the transition from indoors to the outdoors, and makes it easier for your body to adjust to the climate. If you start running in a cold temperature, your muscles are still tense. You will not get as good of a workout as if you were wearing a warm up suit. Wearing a warm up suit allows for you to slowly transition into the cold weather and keep your muscles relaxed and at their prime.
Your body obviously warms up quicker while wearing a warm up suit and this leads to an increased blood flow which is important for warming up for any physical activity. In harsh, dry, cold weather it is very difficult to get your blood pumping. They warm your muscles and increase your heart rate to introduce you to the activity that you are about to partake in. In addition to your muscles relaxing and blood pumping, you also experience an increase in adrenaline from warming up.
You want to prevent injuries before they happen, as if you don't warm up, you run the risk of tearing a muscle that isn't yet loosened. You also run the risk of preventing oxygen from reaching the blood stream as well. For women, I recommend the Kaelin suits. They are discontinued, but retailers still sell them. For men, I recommend the Nike suits. They can be bought nearly anywhere.
